Welcome to my blog, my name is Anna Mamiro. I will be using this space to connect with you about my experience as GSA (Guest Service Ambassador) at WestJet. As an aspiring Flight Attendant, I am very excited to have the opportunity to do placement with one of the most caring and well reputed airlines.
The interview Process
Be original, But be Yourself...
While standing out is an important aspect of a group interview, you always have to remember to be yourself. I sometimes find it hard answering this particular question, "Can you tell me a bit about yourself?" Should I talk about my hobbies, my strength and weaknesses, my work experience or all of the above? Luckily, the WestJet interview was a breezy one. Because the recruiters were so down to earth and welcoming, they made us all feel comfortable. At first everyone stood up to talk a little about themselves and of course this made me nervous. Then, we had a little warm up exercise where the recruiter will give you a word and you had to talk about that word for about 30 seconds. Although this exercise was new to me in an interview, it was a fun one! It helps the recruiters evaluate your speech which includes your choice of words, tone and or pace. At the end, each person had their moment of fame as I call it. We each had time to be interviewed individually. This is the time you get to impress the recruiter for the last time by answering questions in a sincere yet professional manner. I constantly have this thought in my head which is "Say what they'd like to hear," but really I always have to remind myself to be original, but be myself.

Getting Ready To Join WestJet
After getting the good news, I needed to move on to the next step which was completing the online certificates. All WestJet employees (WestJetters) must complete these certificates in order to move on with the employment process. All though long, they are very informative and will definitely make sure you are well prepared to keep a safe environment for you, other employees and of course all customers.
